How about a good read, chick-lit anyone?
Having a bad day, wedding planning stressing you out? Then pick up a purely frivolous book. Emily Giffin is a New York Times best seller and knows how to do chick lit. According to Bookreporter.com her work "is similar to The Devil Wears Prada and Sex in the City". I recently read "Something Borrowed" and "Something Blue" and really enjoyed them.
“A debut novel…that is so meant for the beach it should have been packaged with suntan lotion. ‘Something Borrowed’ is seductively flavored by its Manhattan setting and spiced by its mean girl Darcy. In all, it’s a fine summer dish.”

“What kind of self-described ‘nice girl’ would sleep with her best friend’s fiancĂ©? One who’s seriously flawed, like this delightful debut novel’s heroine, but also surprisingly winning and real.”

“Highly entertaining…Despite a happy ending, Giffin raises thorny questions. A long friendship can (like marriage) turn claustrophobic or abusive. Is infidelity the solution? And why are pretty girls so easily taken in by scheming Plain Janes?”

Event Expert - Karen Bussen
A touch of whimsy and a splash of modern. I just adore the work of Karen Bussen. Karen is an entertaining expert/author out of New York City and her books are just divine. When I was hosting a bridal shower I looked to Karen's books for inspiration and education about all things showers, flowers and weddings. I thoroughly recommend her books.
Karen has a great blog for all types of event planning you should check out.
If you are on the East Coast and are looking for an event planner why not think about Karen. She has been featured in Modern Bride, InStyle Weddings, Cosmopolitan, Martha Stewart Weddings and Good Housekeeping so I guess she knows her stuff when it comes to a planning a good time!

u-handbags for the handy at heart
I just love u-handbag.com where you can create your own fabbo clutch, wristlet, chain bag, totes and the list goes on. They "stock everything from yummy bag handles to purse frames and hard-to-find metal bits". You can fashion a retro style clutch or a modern weekender travel bag. My three favs are the Baguette Clutch, Eyeglass Case Wristlet and the Sophia Carry-all.
This could be a great bridesmaid "session” for those who fancy themselves as handy or for the bride who might like to gift their bridesmaid with a custom made clutch which will work long after the wedding day is over.
Lisa from u-handbags has a great blog with loads of bag making ideas at http://u-handbag.typepad.com/uhandblog/2006/12/purse_frames_de.html

Glamour Puss
If you need a little inspiration for that Old Hollywood look, take a look at the work of Jean Desses. Bloody hell he made pretty dresses. How did he do what he did? The pleats, draping, weaving and all totally sexy! What I wouldn't give to own a dress like this and have somewhere fabulous to wear it.
This style of gown would suit a bride looking to capture the feel of the glam years of the 1950's.
